Position Overview

BPI is seeking an Estimator - Millwork Production to serve as a primary point of contact for our customers. In this role you will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely and competitive quotes for custom and standard millwork products. This role requires a strong understanding of millwork manufacturing processes, materials, labor requirements, and production lead times. The Estimator works closely with sales, procurement, and production teams to ensure quotes are aligned with operational capabilities and customer specifications

This is a non-commission, inside role focused on customer service, quote processing, and ERP-based quote management. You will work closely with Territory Managers, operations, and production teams to support customer satisfaction and successful order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Quoting

  • Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to determine scope and requirements.
  • Update quotes as needed based on change orders, revised plans, or customer feedback.
  • Identify potential fabrication challenges, value-engineering opportunities, and alternative materials or build methods.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with millwork standards, building codes, and project constraints.
  • Work with production teams to clarify details and resolve discrepancies in drawings.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with sales teams to understand customer expectations and pricing targets.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to validate material pricing and lead times.
  • Communicate clearly with customers to resolve questions, gather missing information, and ensure quoting accuracy.
  • Maintain organized records and documentation related to orders and customer interactions.

Data Management & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate records of all quotes, assumptions, and revisions.
  • Track win/loss rates and analyze quoting performance for continual improvement.
  • Update internal pricing databases, material lists, and labor rate assumptions as needed.
  • Participate in standardization efforts to improve estimating consistency and efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in millwork, carpentry, cabinetry, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Proficient in estimating software, ERP systems, or CAD-based tools.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of AWI standards (Architectural Woodwork Institute).
  • Familiarity with CNC processes, veneer work, finishing, hardware, and custom fabrication.
  • Prior experience quoting commercial projects (hospitality, retail, corporate interiors, etc.)
